Work Experience at UHNM

Work experience at University Hospitals of North Midlands offers a great opportunity to find out more about a career in the NHS and gain valuable experience for your CV. On a work experience placement at UHNM, you can shadow a member of staff or a team and experience a day in the life of someone who does the job you are interested in.

UHNM has a number of placement areas available. The duration of placements can vary between one day and two weeks. Placements are allocated subject to department workloads and staffing. (The Learning, Education and Widening Participation Team reserves the right to postpone the acceptance of application requests, e.g. in busy periods such as during winter pressures).

Applications must be submitted at least eight weeks in advance of your requested dates. This is to allow for placement allocation, health clearance and documentation being completed and returned. Places are open to all who meet the criteria and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis to ensure equality of opportunity. Please be aware that placements in certain areas are limited.

If you are aged 14-18 and in full-time education (school or college), you must complete the 14-18 Work Experience Application Form below. Please note, this must be signed by your school or college tutor and your parent or guardian. Applications received without these signatures will not be processed.
