Volunteering with UHNM Charity

UHNM Charity supports the excellent work of University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust by enhancing facilities and providing added value. It's a registered charity that manages all money raised for, or donated to the hospital.

UHNM Charity supports patients, their relatives and friends, staff and local businesses and organisations to raise money for the hospital. The charity also works closely with the hospital to make sure that all departments are supported to spend every penny of the money raised on items that will directly improve patient care.

Anybody can become a UHNM Charity Volunteer, not just previous patients and their families, and you can volunteer at either the Royal Stoke University Hospital, or County Hospital in Stafford.

All we ask is you’ve got a friendly, can-do attitude, with an enthusiasm for our work, and a willingness to help others.

We also ask that you'll be able to commit 3-4 hours per week in one session, over a minimum of 6 months.

UHNM Charity volunteers will support us in providing a ‘meet and greet’ and information facility for the Charity in our hospital’s atriums and other key entrance points,  helping us connect more effectively with fundraisers staff, patients, carers and the public. You’ll also help with a range of other activities including accepting donations and completing appropriate documentation, swapping collection cans within the hospitals, and helping to promote our fundraisers work.

You’ll learn new skills, make new friends and be part of an amazing group of people. But above all, you’ll have the knowledge that you’ll be making a real difference in improving the experience of patients and their families at our two hospitals.

Becoming a volunteer with UHNM Charity is as easy as 1,2,3!

1) Have a look at the Volunteer Specified Role, similar to a job description, this details the role purpose, main duties and responsibilities and personal specification.

2) Download and fill out the UHNM Charity Screening Sheet. On here we ask you a few simple questions to find out if you're suitable for the role.

3) Email your completed Screening Sheet back to us at If you prefer, you can drop it into us in person at our UHNM Charity office at the Royal Stoke University Hospital just off the main atrium. We're open 8.30am- 4.30pm Monday-Friday. After this, we'll then be in touch with you to discuss the next steps.
